We would like to welcome Dr. Tess Miller, D.C., and Jessica Kempton, RMT to our clinic!

Dr. Tess will be in clinic on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Jessica will be in our clinic on Thursdays!

We’re pleased to offer flexible appointment times to suit your schedule. If you don’t see a time that works for you, please contact our office directly at (902) 858-9977 or email info@hubbardschiropractic.ca to inquire about practitioner availability.

If you have an appointment booked but have a question, we encourage you to contact the office and leave a voice mail for your practitioner to return your call, or email us at info@hubbardschiropractic.ca.

However, if you have an appointment already booked and you have a question regarding your appointment cannot wait until our regular clinic hours, you have the option to text our after-hours number at (902) 701-2997. This number is ONLY set up for texting and cannot accept phone calls. Depending on the urgency of the inquiry, messages will be screened and my not be returned immediately.

Chiropractic

Jikiden Reiki is a non-religious healing technique founded and developed by Mr. Mikao Usui (1865-1926), in Japan. A treatment is carried out by a practitioner laying hands gently on the receiver who is fully clothed and relaxing on a Reiki table. Treatments benefit those who are in poor health to aid recovery and also healthy people to maintain good health. Most people report that Reiki treatments are very relaxing.

Gabrielle is a Registered Acupuncturist and a member of good standing with the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada.

Gabrielle’s interest in holistic medicine stems from her curiosity for human health and passion for helping others. This inspired her to move from New Brunswick to Nova Scotia and attend the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, where she received her Diploma in Acupuncture with distinction in clinical excellence.

In her practice, Gabrielle aims to provide a calm, gentle and caring approach all while holding a safe space where people can feel comfortable sharing their health experience. She combines a variety of treatment methods to effectively address a multitude of conditions using acupuncture, fire cupping, guasha, and moxibustion.

Jessica Kempton has been a practicing massage therapist since 2021. She graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy and completed community clinics in arthritis, neurology, and invisible illnesses.

Jessica is an avid learner - in addition to her massage education, she has a Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University majoring in Neuroscience/Psychology and Biology, with an accompanying undergraduate certificate in Disability Management/minor in Health Promotion. She is currently completing a Bachelors degree in Public Relations. Her education has prepared her in understanding the complexities of many physiological and/or psychological disorders/traumatic injuries that can afflict the body. By employing a combination of general Swedish, myofascial, and therapeutic techniques, she works to help clients with their relaxation related and/or musculoskeletal concerns. Although she leans towards the use of moderate pressure she can adjust for all preferences and/or needs.

Jessica’s specific interests lie in treating neuromuscular disorders and mental health support. She has a depth of experience with many conditions including but not limited to: MS, fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s, PTSD, orthopedic surgery recoveries, rheumatoid and osteo arthritis, sports injuries, and whiplash/MVA cases. Additionally she offers pre and post natal massage as well as child massage.

Born and raised in southeastern Ontario, Dr. Tess Miller began her academic journey focusing on wildlife biology. After nearly a decade in wildlife rehabilitation and conservation, Dr. Miller discovered that her passion for helping animals extended to people, inspiring her to pursue a career in chiropractic. She earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, Ontario. Dr. Miller and her husband relocated to the Boutilier’s Point, NS after falling in love with the people and the natural beauty of the province.

Dr. Miller has clinical experience working with a wide age range of patients, from young adults recovering from workplace injuries to older individuals managing chronic conditions. She focuses on helping patients address common musculoskeletal issues, restore function, and improve their quality of life through personalized care. Her approach emphasizes empowering patients to build on their strengths and achieve their health goals.

In addition to diversified chiropractic adjustments and mobilizations, Dr. Miller incorporates soft tissue therapy and Neural Manipulation (NM) into her treatment plans. Leah studied Early Childhood Education at Mount St. Vincent University and enjoyed a 40 year career, working with children 3-5 years of age. She retired from teaching at the Shambhala School, in Halifax, in June 2021. In September of 2021 she began to study Jikiden Reiki from Gabrielle Gietzen, Dai-Shihan / Teacher, earning her Shoden certificate and immediately began to practice Jikiden Reiki. Leah continued to study with Gabrielle and in November 2021 earned her Okuden certificate (second level). Since that time she has been giving Reiki treatments to family members and friends, with amazing results. Leah is a grateful, long time resident of Hubbards.

Carla is originally from New Brunswick, where she spent the last 20 years raising her family. She has two children, the youngest of which has just started her first year at Dalhousie.

She met her husband, Greg, while attending school in Halifax. They spent their first few married years living in Hubbards at his family’s summer home. Although family matters took them away to NB, their hearts remained here, and she is very happy to be back in the community.

Carla has been a Massage Therapist for five years now and looks forward to serving the Hubbards and surrounding communities with all their massage therapy needs, whether they are experiencing pain related to injury, postural imbalances, muscle tension or would just like a relaxing massage experience.
